EveryOne Group is following closely the case of Pegah Emambakhsh, who is still not out of danger.
The Government of the United Kingdom has not forgiven her call for help to the free world in an effort to stop her deportation to Teheran, towards jail and death by stoning. After the Flowers Campaign, Gordon Brown and Jacqui Smith, in spite of having total control of the media in the United Kingdom, had moments of serious embarrassment when their repeated violations of the rights of refugees became public domain. Not even they, from their almost untouchable positions of power are allowed to break the laws protecting human rights with impunity. Our experience, however, teaches us that the length of time it is taking the judges to reach a decision and the malicious attitude of the magistrates is not a good sign. Pegah is living under tremendous pressure, but she is a woman of great moral fibre and indomitable courage. She wants to live, but her heart is troubled for those who have no chance of being saved from the executioner: innocent people like Makwan, like the journalists, dissidents and homosexuals whose lives were taken away in an atrocious fashion by inhuman laws. Pegah awaits a decision that will decide everything for her, but it is not a passive wait, because her woman’s heart, her mother’s heart is filled with pain and anguish for the fate of those who have neither home nor rights, people who are discriminated against and sent away. This is why Pegah feels closer to EveryOne Group and its campaign for human rights. Her wishes for the New Year are a warning not to give way to indifference, and to work together in order that countries do not forget the human rights treaties which represent the noblest expression of thought and conscience of our civilization.

Il governo del Regno Unito non le ha perdonato il grido di aiuto che ha rivolto al mondo libero, affinché fosse fermata la sua deportazione verso Teheran, il carcere, la tortura e la morte per lapidazione. Dopo la Campagna dei Fiori, Gordon Brown e Jacqui Smith, nonostante abbiano il controllo totale dei media del Regno Unito, hanno avuto momenti di grave imbarazzo e le loro ripetute violazioni dei diritti dei profughi sono state rese di pubblico dominio. Neanche loro, dall'alto di posizioni di potere quasi intoccabili, possono infrangere impunemente le norme che tutelano i Diritti Umani. La nostra esperienza, però, ci insegna che il protrarsi dei tempi di giudizio e l'atteggiamento malevolo dei magistrati non promettono niente di buono. Pegah vive sotto una pressione terribile, ma è una donna di formidabile tempra morale e di coraggio indomito. Vuole vivere, ma il suo cuore è turbato per coloro che non hanno più alcune possibilità di essere risparmiati dal boia: persone innocenti come Makwan, come i giornalisti, i dissidenti, gli omosessuali cui leggi disumane hanno tolto la vita in modo atroce. Pegah attende una sentenza che deciderà tutto, per lei, ma la sua attesa non è passiva, perché il suo cuore di donna, il suo cuore di madre è pieno di dolore e di angoscia per la sorte di chi non ha casa né diritti ed è discriminato e scacciato da qualsiasi luogo. Ecco perché Pegah è sempre più vicina al Gruppo EveryOne e alle sue campagne per i Diritti Umani. I suoi auguri di Buon Anno sono un monito perché non ci arrendiamo all'indifferenza e tutti insieme ci impegniamo affinché le nazioni non dimentichino le Carte sui Diritti Umani, che rappresentano l'espressione più alta del pensiero e della coscienza della nostra civiltà.
