Anti-Tsiganism in Pesaro (Italy). Humanitarian crisis for a small community of Roma after being ordered to leave the empty building they had taken refuge in.
After a raid orchestrated by the Pesaro local authorities and Police HQ, dozens of police officers cleared the abandoned building in Via Solferino where about 30 Romanian Roma had taken refuge. Among them were seriously ill people receiving treatment at San Salvatore Hospital. No one offered any assistance to the homeless Roma, apart from a few local people who have not lost their humanity.
All trace has been lost of some of the homeless Roma after they left the building prey to panic and desperation. The hospitals were alerted after some of the weaker and more vulnerable members were taken ill because of the harsh weather and the tension.
EveryOne Group is trying to find alternative solutions to give these people an emergency shelter before they succumb to the night cold, which would endanger the lives of the cancer patients (including Mia Copalea, who is critically ill) and those suffering from heart problems. It is a desperate race against time. During the last camp clearance, two women had miscarriages.
San Salvatore Hospital has offered medical assistance for the more serious cases, while EveryOne and some citizens of Pesaro are trying to organize an urgent rescue plan.
The activists have also alerted the national and European institutions, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the European Court of Human Rights, and the International Criminal Court of the Hague. Numerous humanitarian organizations have already expressed their indignation for the ethnic cleansing operation underway in Pesaro.
