EveryOne Group and civil society in democratic countries have taken up the appeal from the IRAQI LGBT association, based in London, which calls on activists and democratic citizens to take part in an international campaign to save the lives of 128 prisoners sentenced to death because they are homosexual.

Arcigay has officially asked the Italian Government – through the Foreign Secretary – to support the international campaign against these executions that violate all the international charters in defence of human rights.
EveryOne Group is asking the American institutions - which are still very influential in Iraq - to support this petition in favour of human rights and life, and invites all democratic citizens to sign the petition

and send requests for clemency to the politicians and authorities who are able to put a stop to these executions:

How many gays are awaiting the death penalty in Iraq?
After receiving the information from important organisations, EveryOne Group opened a petition to save the lives of 128 gays unjustly imprisoned and under the threat of execution in Iraq.
There may be a possibility that this number of prisoners includes people accused of crimes other than “lavat”, (homosexuality), crimes still punishable by death in Islamic law. There are some organisations, however, who never miss an opportunity to attack EveryOne Group, and have expressed heavy criticism of our alleged mistake in quoting this number. But is it really such a serious mistake, or are there other reasons why these associations have decided take this stance?
The truth is that EveryOne Group is a source of annoyance for many people as its campaigns have already saved numerous lives and led to important changes being made in the international policies on the right to asylum (particularly where the protection of homosexual refugees are concerned) and become symbolic for the activists of Islamic countries, GLBT emancipation, and the right to life. With this in mind then, we will amend the figure: no longer 128 gays and lesbians under the threat of the death penalty, but many more: about 2,710,291 - which corresponds to 10% of the Iraqi population.
Homosexuals and lesbians represent about 10% of the population in every country in the world, including Iraq and the other countries where Islamic fundamentalism exists. Even if there were only 10 or 5 homosexuals, and not 128, in prison awaiting execution, we must stress that none of the 2,710,291 homosexuals living in Iraq are safe until the laws that criminalize homosexuality are changed.
It is important that all the human rights organisations realise this and participate in this great international campaign, or many lives will be lost and many others will suffer tragic oppression.
