November 30, 2010. While the UNHCR and the European Union are asking Egypt to implement appropriate measures to combat the trafficking of migrants fleeing from war and persecution, the Habeshia Agency (a human rights organization based in Italy) has received even more dramatic news: three more hostages have been killed by the traffickers.

Twelve of them had tried to escape, but were captured, tortured, and beaten with sticks. The Italian agreements with the dictator Gaddafi, the transformation of Europe into a fortress and the constant violations of the Geneva Convention have resulted in this new tragedy, in which migrants have become the new Jews and a new genocide is taking place surrounded by silence.
Europe has become accustomed to words like "deportation", "crime of illegal immigration," and "internment". Security forces are transformed into perpetrators, politicians preach xenophobia, the media numbs the conscience of the people. So we are renewing our appeal: do not allow these murderers to continue their crimes, save the remaining Eritreans. But most importantly, Europe must start to respect the Geneva Convention, without which we are all accomplices in the terrible violations of the rights of Refugees.
