The 2011 Makwan Prize awarded to Hamdy Al-Azazy

Rome, February 6th, 2011. The 2011 Makwan Prize has been awarded to Hamdy Ahmed Al-Azazy, the president of the NGO New Generation Foundation for Human Rights in Arish (North Sinai, Egypt), who for years has been assisting refugees - mainly from sub-Saharan Africa - in prisons and hospitals, and defending their rights.

The award, promoted by EveryOne Group, is also motivated by the extraordinary humanitarian work that Hamdy is carrying out in the Sinai in an attempt to put a stop to the trafficking of sub-Saharan migrants and human organs.
